Cloud Meadow

Cloud Meadow

Cloud Meadow is a NSFW adult game with monster breeding, farming and RPG combat. It is like Harvest Moon only 18+ and NSFW. The game was backed on Patreon and made over $42,300 per month. The original concept was Breeding Season.

Due to disagreements the original art director fell out with the team and Breeding Season was canned. Art director Vladimir "S-Purple" Sandler aka S-Purple took his art back and decided to create Cloud Meadow.

Alexander aka Harista-PipeBomb was the initial concept creator but he gave S-Purple full rights to his artworks and when they fell out, S-Purple took the art back and threatened legal action.

S-Purple's version of the game is a little different to Breeding Season, making them not the same. The characters were also reworked and changed, making it a complete different game. Plagiarism in the media and video game industry today is quite frequent.

Initially Cloud Meadow pulled in 1,225 per month on Patreon, with an initial goal of $3,000. Which is now as of 2020, $19,797 per month.

Since then Team Bieno lead by GZone / GZone_Art from Germany took Harista-Pipebomb's original concept and created Breeding Farm. They made $997 per month. Not as much as the initial projects, but the game is still being backed.

Proving that Harista-Pipebomb could have started a brand new game and hired a new team. You cannot sue someone if someone else is creating their concept and they want to create something. All the initial creator would need is a new team. And just think before giving away rights to artworks that you commission for projects. If you work in a team, neither person should treat the other like garbage. It should be equal footing. But according to a lot of people there are reasons.

Here are some cliff notes, which will explain why they probably fell out:

1. H-Bomb who coded the original concept vanished for a year, and also paid his income taxes with funds contractually due to his partner. He apparently abandoned the original project which is said to have angered the backers.

2. The Team (most likely Team Nimbus as there were more people working on the original game,) claimed they did not like H-Bomb, in other words they turned against him.

3. Instead of working on the game, H-Bomb decided to play Dark Souls for a whole year.

4. S-Purple killed the original project by taking the art away, as the contract allowed him to. So he was in his right to do so.

5. H-Bomb released all of the original assets into the public domain.

6. They shared a joint fund account.

Now we here will look into the freelance agreement between Alexander and Vladimir. Pip Productions doesn't mention this in the video, only here on this blog. It helps people to understand what really went on between the two.

Freelance Agreement:

This agreement is made between Alexander and Vladimir, and is effective as of 1st of July, 2014. The agreement covers production of art assets by Vladimir Sandler on the following project(s):

Character designs, UI designs, in-game art assets and promotional art for the game Breeding Season.

The following terms and condition are agreed upon by both parties:

Contract Period. Vladimir and Alexander agree that this Agreement shall begin on the date listed above, and continue until the project is completed, or until terminated by either party.

Compensation. Alexander agrees to pay half of the monthly revenue from Breeding Season after all other business expenses are subtracted, including transaction fees, project operating costs and payment to other contractors working on the Breeding Season project, to Vladimir Sandler, and will render this payment monthly.

Financial Obligation. Vladimir Sandler agrees that he is an independent contractor, and is not an employee of Alexander. Vladimir therefore agrees that he is responsible for reporting his own income to the appropriate authorities.

Relationship. Vladimir and Alexander stipulate that this Agreement does not imply any other relation between the two, and that any additional relationship desired by either party must be outlined in a separate Agreement.

Two Sides of the Story:

H-Bomb:

So there are two sides to this story. The first is that Alexander "Harista" Pipebomb claimed that Vladimir "S-Purple" Sandler took the funds and ran. His last words about S-Purple were that S-Purple is greedy, with a lot of curse words rammed in.

S-Purple:

S-Purple's story is that H-Bomb killed the project by not working on it, and that he took the funds from the account that was owed for his work, and the money for his co-worker Fleet. Vanilly and Subtank, allegedly turned down the payments. Claims he was sick of the project, and was going to quietly leave and salvage the art because he claims that H-Bomb would have tried to have sabotaged him.

S-Purple makes it clear that Cloud Meadow is not Breeding Season, but a spiritual successor to what could have been. And he just says that Alexander "Harista" Pipebomb is lazy.

So yeah there are two sides to every story. The contract above as stated gave S-Purple full rights over his work. So what can you say!? It also makes it clear that he never worked for H-Bomb.

Another lead animator by the name of Vanilly also made it clear that she fell out with H-Bomb by also leaving the project. She went to work on the animations for Cloud Meadow along with Dieselbrain.

Vanilly was quoted as working very hard on the initial project by both parties. So her leaving indicates that maybe Alexander was lazy!? But the other side could be that when S-Purple walked out, they all did. Because that is how cliques work, and when you work with people when they fall out, they often leave behind collateral damage.

As for Cloud Meadow it is still currently in development. You can follow the links below to keep updated on the game. You will have to copy and paste the links manually, because links are not transparent on this blog. Cloud Meadow's concept is very good. Eve and Evan are very interesting-looking tanned protagonists.
